The Health Claims Forum is a life insurance industry organisation whose purpose is to improve claims management through the sharing of knowledge and experience within the life, health and disability claims field.
Membership is open to people, employed by life offices, who deal with the payment and assessment of life, health or disability insurances and to employees of companies who provide claims management services to insurers.
The Forum meet four times a year, usually in February, May, September and November. The content of the meetings is extremely varied, with speakers from within the industry as well as those from the medical and legal professions.
The Health Claims Forum is run by a committee elected by its members who provide their time on a voluntary basis.
The Forum operates to a constitution which governs the membership of the Forum and the Committee.
Kieran is a Senior Claims Assessor with SCOR Life since September 2014. He had 8 years claims experience with a direct office prior to joining SCOR. Kieran holds a Law Degree and has a special interest in Neurology having attended the University of Cardiff Neurology Campus.
Kat is a Senior Claims Audit and Training Specialist at Vitality. She has over 18 years industry experience, joining Vitality in November 2018. She previously worked within the claims development team at Legal & General. Kat enjoys getting outside with her energetic Springer and going for long country walks, preferably ending at a country pub.
Jen is a Claims Assessor at RGA Re and has over 20 years industry experience. Maths genius, behavioural economics expert and former footballer.
Jen is a Claims Assessor at Hannover Re, with 20 years of industry experience within both the direct office and reinsurance environment. Once a CII exam fanatic, wannabe world traveller (and cheeky Jagerbomb enthusiast). Jen now enjoys spending her time outside of work looking after her young family (and has replaced Jagerbombs with a nice large glass of wine!).
Annmarie is a Senior Claims Assessor at Pacific Life Re. She has over 13 years’ claims experience across all product types and is heavily involved in Pacific Life Re’s internal and external audit programmes, as well as client training and development. Outside of work Annmarie enjoys spending time with family and friends.
Sarah is the Senior Claims Manager at Unum responsible for the Claims and Rehab teams service delivery. She has over 20 years’ experience in both Individual and Group Income Protection, Life and CI. Outside of work, she enjoys walking with her dog, gardening, and travelling and the occasional cheeky gin!
Simon has worked at Aviva since 2000 and held various roles in underwriting and claims. Currently a Technical Claims Manager with a particular focus on philosophy and governance. Outside of work it’s as much family time as possible between various roles at the local cricket club including coaching kids cricket and clinging on to still playing.
Clio started her career as an Occupational Therapist before making the move into disability claims assessment with a direct insurer in South Africa. She has been with Gen Re London since September 2015, with a particular interest in Income Protection. Outside of work, Clio loves to swim, run and cycle…she’s also partial to a good pub quiz and board games!
Jen is a Claims Assessor at Pacific Life Re. She joined there in 2020 after working on the Aegon book of business for almost 12 years. Jen has over 14 years’ experience in claims and is also a Chartered Insurer. Outside of work Jen enjoys keeping fit, hiking, photography and spending time with her young family!
Julie has over 35 years underwriting and claims experience. She started her career in reinsurance, before moving to a direct office and now works as a Claims Technical Consultant for Capita. Outside of work she enjoys spending time with family and friends, gardening, sugarcraft, watching sport and enjoying good food and good wine!
Callum works at Legal & General across all Group Risk Insurance products in a technical and governance team. Callum has worked in both claims and rehabilitation fields within the industry and has particular interests in research.
Lynn has 30 year’s claims experience working for a variety of insurers in Devon. She currently works for The Exeter as their Individual Protection Manager dealing with IP and Life claims. Away from work, Lynn holds a number of voluntary roles for Girlguiding and runs her own Unit of Guides. Lynn has travelled abroad with Girlguiding and has even ridden a horse across Mongolia and the Andes. She has used her experience of navigating across the moors with her Guides to gain the RYA Day Skipper qualification and now often takes a (not so relaxing) holiday on a yacht.
Tim is Head of L&H Claims Market for UK & Ireland, at Swiss Re. He started work in insurance in 1988, working 10 years at a primary market insurer, in their Underwriting and Claims Teams. Tim joined Swiss Re (GE Insurance Solutions) in 1998 and has held various roles in the L&H Claims, except for the six years he spent Swiss Re’s P&C side of the business. He returned to his current role in 2022. Outside of work, Tim enjoys spending time with friends and family, and on Saturday’s can usually be found on the golf course.
Anthony is MetLife’s Lead Medical Services Consultant and has over 30 years’ experience as a Nurse within the NHS and the Insurance industry working with Insurance professionals in Claims, Actuarial, and Underwriting both within the PMI and Income protection arena. His role is to provide expert medical and technical advice and support to ensure Assessors have a good understanding of their full medical picture. In his spare time Anthony is a competitive double bit axe thrower and instructor.
Andy is a Senior Claims Specialist with Munich Re. He has over 25 years protection claims experience which was largely picked up in a direct office before joining Munich Re. Outside of work Andy enjoys time with his family, is a keen sports fan and is also a little bit of a vinyl addict.
Gary has been a Claims Philosophy Developer at Royal London since 2021 and prior to that assessed claims across all benefit types for 13 years. Outside of work he enjoys spending time with family, attempting to keep fit and playing football (well trying to anyway!)
Gwen is a Technical Claims Team Leader at AIG. She has over 20 years’ experience in claims and has worked for various companies in the industry, dealing with both Individual and Group Claims. Outside of work Gwen enjoys going to the gym, travelling, walking her dog and spending time with friends and family.
